7 Must-Have Features for Accountant & Financial Advisor Websites

When it comes to financial services, trust is everything. Your website isn’t just a digital business card… it’s a client’s first impression of your professionalism, credibility, and expertise. Whether you’re an accountant, bookkeeper, or financial advisor, the right site structure can make all the difference.

At Strong Sites, we built our Numbercrunch Squarespace template with financial professionals in mind, but these best practices apply no matter what platform you’re using.

1. Clear, Detailed Service Pages

Don’t just list “Tax Prep” or “Bookkeeping” on a single line. Create individual service pages (or at least categories) with details on:

  • Who the service is for

  • What’s included

  • What clients get out of it

  • Testimonials from clients who’ve used that service

Not only does this make your site easier to understand, it’s also powerful for SEO. Google rewards sites that dedicate full pages to specific services.

2. A Friendly, Approachable About Page

Money is deeply personal, and people want to know they can trust you. Use your About page to show your face, share your story, and explain why you do what you do. The best About pages balance professionalism with warmth, allowing you to connect with clients on a human level, not just a business one.

3. Showcase Your Team

If you have a team, feature them. A staff directory with photos, names, and specialties builds trust quickly. You can get creative with presentation styles too. For example, in Numbercrunch I transformed standard headshots into vintage comic-style “financial superheroes.” Each team member can have their own bio page with contact info. You could even add a short “meet the team” video to show clients who they’ll be working with.

4. Location Page for Local SEO

Even if you only have one office, dedicate a page to your location. Include your address, parking info, and a map embed. This isn’t just convenient for clients, it’s also great for local SEO. Google is more likely to display your site when someone searches “accountant near me” if you have a dedicated location page. For best results, embed an actual Google Map instead of a generic Squarespace map block.

5. Updates or Blog Section

You don’t have to publish every week, but even occasional updates help. Post seasonal tax reminders, financial tips, or firm announcements. It keeps your site fresh and shows Google (and your clients) that you’re active. This section can also double as a simple newsletter hub if you’d like to share updates by email.

6. Legal Essentials

As a finance professional, you know the details matter. At minimum, your site should include:

  • A Privacy Policy

  • Terms of Use page

If you’re collecting client data through forms, these aren’t optional. You can work with a lawyer to draft them or use a generator like Termageddon.

7. A User-Friendly Contact Page

Don’t just drop in a generic form. Make your contact page approachable and versatile by including a phone number, email address, office address, and even a booking link for consultations. The easier you make it for clients to connect, the more likely they are to reach out.

Every financial professional’s website should include these seven essentials. Whether you’re building on your own or using a template, these elements will help you build trust, improve SEO, and turn website visitors into paying clients.
